Start designing your signIt is surprising how many people forget to wash their hands after using the restroom, and this is particularly important in public establishments such as restaurants where neglecting to do so may have very dire consequences. Fortunately enough, there are plenty of ways to help remind restroom visitors not to skip this very important step.
Hand washing signs are best placed right next to each sink in the restroom. Depending on the space you have available, these may range from discreet reminders to full-blown posters with step-by-step instructions.
It is important to keep in mind who will be reading your hand washing signs. In a school, for example, a more illustrated version is recommended, perhaps featuring a well-known cleanliness mascot or cartoon character. For employees in catering establishments, signs should be worded on a more serious note, driving home the importance of hand washing.
Posters illustrating step-by-step instructions are usually accompanied by pictures that ensure universality – however, you may also choose to stick to strictly verbal, displaying the same sign in several different languages. The use of colour is optional, although the more attractive the sign, the higher the probability that it will deliver results.
