Signomatic supports

With the Signomatic supports initiative, we want to take our responsibility as a company and contribute to sustainable development by supporting organisations that are involved in various social- and community projects. For each new subscriber who signs up for our newsletter, we donate 3 AUD to the Signomatic supports initiative and help organisations that are working for a better society.

This month’s support organisation

Swedish Committee for Afghanistan

Since the beginning of the year, the escalating fighting in Afghanistan has driven hundreds of thousands of people from their homes – and more are fleeing every day. This August we learned that the Taliban have taken power in the country and there is great uncertainty about the future. Our support organisation for September is the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SAC). They mainly work with the most vulnerable members of society: women, children, people with disabilities and internally displaced persons. Despite the situation in Afghanistan, SAC is continuing to focus its efforts on local development of rural areas, schools and health care with unchanged strength. But they need help and we feel that SAC is the obvious choice for this month’s support organisation so that they can continue their important work.

Previously supported organisations

In August we are supporting Talita. Talita is a non-profit organisation that offers women a way out of prostitution, pornography and human trafficking for sexual purposes and into a new life. Through its rehabilitation programme Talita has been helping women all around the world for over 20 years. Almost all women who have completed Talita’s programme leave prostitution for good. We are pleased that our contribution will go to support their important work.

Hand in Hand

For almost thirty years, Hand in Hand International has used training, supportive networks and access to micro-loans to help people exploit their potential and develop into small-scale and successful entrepreneurs. They educate and train primarily women and young people in self-help groups with a focus on entrepreneurship. This results in stronger companies and start-ups, which in turn leads to more jobs. Eradicating global poverty is number 1 in the UN’s list of global sustainability goals, and it is also the vision of Hand in Hand. We are proud to support them in their work towards a world without poverty.

July 2021

20 June is internationally recognized as World Refugee Day. In 2020 UNHCR reported that there are 79.5 million refugees around the world. Each figure represents just as many individual and very personal crises. UNHCR is the UN refugee agency with a mandate to protect people who have been forced to flee from war, conflict or persecution. UNHCR fights for the rights of refugees, provides life-saving emergency relief and creates solutions for a secure future.

World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)

The climate and the environment are two issues that are close to our hearts here at Signomatic, and that’s why we have chosen to support the World Wildlife Fund in May. WWF works to protect and conserve the world’s biodiversity, reduce pollution and wasteful consumption, as well as to encourage the use of renewable resources in a sustainable way. For a future in which humans live in harmony with nature.

SOS Children’s Villages

Today more than 220 million children worldwide live in extremely vulnerable circumstances because they lack, or risk losing, the basic care of a parent. The coronavirus risks leading to poverty around the world becoming even more widespread. Children who are already living in vulnerable circumstances will be the hardest hit. In April we chose to support SOS Children’s Villages. Their work goes beyond creating basic conditions for each child. It also includes standing up for children and their rights. They need us now more than ever. Together we can ensure that no child grows up alone.

Svenska Downföreningen

On March 21, the UN has announced World Down Syndrome Day, which is being celebrated with the campaign "Rock your socks". Down Syndrome means that you have three sets of chromosome 21 and socks that are paired with the heels against each other look like small chromosomes. We want to pay tribute to differences and fight for people's equal value and rights. Therefore, we choose to support the Swedish Down Association, which works to increase knowledge and reduce prejudices about Down syndrome.

The climate issue is important to us and we are always striving to minimise our impact on the climate and the environment and to work sustainably. We have chosen to support RISE, a research institute tasked with promoting sustainable growth in society, often on behalf of or in close collaboration with industry, academia and the public sector. We help fund the project "Efficient and carbon negative jet fuels". The project aims to increase knowledge about opportunities and challenges linked to increasing carbon efficiency in bio-aviation fuel production for a more efficient use of biomass and reduced climate impact.
